Final Fantasy fans are in for a big treat this week as Square Enix gears up to release Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion, a remake of the PSP exclusive. It's not just a simple resolution boost - it's a full-on remake with everything from the graphics to the soundtrack being completely reworked. A new addition, too, is that the game features full voice acting, something the original couldn't manage on the PSP's humble hardware.
The game's original score was composed primarily by Capcom's Akiyuki Morimoto, Miwako Chinone, and Satoshi Hori, with additional contributions from Brian D'Oliveira and Cris Velasco. Its theme song, an arranged version of the traditional American folk song "Go Tell Aunt Rhody", was written by Michael A. Levine and performed by Jordan Reyne. Levine's step-daughter Mariana Barreto was the original choice, but ended up doing the background vocals. The song went through about 20 versions until completion. A soundtrack was released digitally by Sumthing Else Music Works alongside the game on January 24.
In addition, buyers will find Leon and Claire's retro skins in the style of the original 1998 game, as well as Chris and Jill's Samurai Edge pistol and the ability to switch to the original soundtrack.
She'll also ride a 1998 model Harley-Davidson Night Train into Raccoon City, with a license plate that reads "J2198," representing the original game's Japanese release -- Jan. 21, 1998. The remake arrives 21 years and four days later. 2b1af7f3a8
